He’s one of the most inspirational characters in gaming. Proving that people should never give up on their dreams.
His drive to see the unknown and do the impossible had inspired me to do more things that I want in real life
I love them all but my favourite would be Vyse because he is a constant positive force who doesn’t give up and is fiercely loyal to his friends and family.
I think, his a good character with free-will spirits in him. Love his quotes, the design, he really feels like a leader of the huge shipcrew.
It could only be Vyse. During that era, it seemed it was becoming more common for heroes to be kind of dour or rude. Vyse was a ray of sunshine among that gloom. Optimistic, kind, and adventurous. I think I remember the game fondly as a whole because of Vyse.
Vyse because of his leadership and positive attitude during the adventure.
He’s aggressively positive in an infectious way that never comes off as disingenuous.
I love his backstory and how it was fleshed out in the GameCube version, like how he got the scar on his face.
I first played Skies of Arcadia in 9th grade. I liked to complain and whine about everything before then. Vyse’s attitude in the face of difficulty slowly turned me into the type of person who will persist when things are tough and I feel like quitting.
I enojy and unwavering protagonists that pushes onward
He is a positive character and has a strong goodwill.
He’s an RPG lead from a time where everyone were doing serious, dour leads. His relentless optimism and taste for adventure was a breath of fresh air that was sorely needed.
It would have to be Vyse just because of his character design and moveset!
liked his design and attitude
Frankly Vyse. Unflinching in the way of adversity, courageous, looked cool and had some really awesome special moves.
He’s the main character and he looks cool.
He never gives up!
His upbeat personality and sense of adventure
I like his personality and character growth throughout the game. His dual blades are really cool too.
Love his skills and battle style
Very optimistic character, good design (especially his zoom goggle)
Wasn’t edgy, believe in yourself, help your friends, do the right thing
He embodies a noble character type, who loves living life for the sake of it, but still holds true to his responsibilities.
He is cool and inspirational. No matter how old I get, I can look back at his determination and gather a little bit of hope in my heart.
Easily one of my favorite RPG protagonists. His optimistic, adventurous attitude is a breath of fresh air and it makes everything more fun and exciting!
He is the optimistic and helpful hero a classic JRPG needs.
His design is super cool and following him on his pirate adventure felt natural.
Vyse as I’m a sucker for the shonen protagonist types
Vyse, main, generic hero guy.
Vyse for his courage and ability to pull everyone to his side. As a fan of One Piece he resembles me a lot like luffy
Extremely brave and a great captain.
Strong and charismatic leader.
Vyse the Pirate King Legend himself. Being early into Digimon at the time of release, I found his unique appearance with one goggle to be well-fitting the Digidestined protagonist style (so I called it in childhood) with the main hero having the goggles. Between that and his cool, determined and hopeful personality, this is THE perfect ‘good guy pirate’ for a JRPG. And Vyse continues to be a wellspring of insight and wisdom with his stance on believing that nothing’s impossible and keeping on going despite whatever hell is thrown his way.
№2🥈 アイカ / Aika 123pt
一番好き…23票＝69pt、二番目に好き…19票＝38pt、三番目に好き…16票＝16pt The most favorite … 23 votes = 69pt, The second favorite … 19 votes = 38pt, The third favorite … 16 votes = 16pt
She’s driven with a heart of gold.
She is fun and cheeky, but also determined and is not afraid to speak her mind.
She’s a good friend, and has the skills to step up when others need her. She’s cute too.
Aika is one of my favorite RPG party members ever. She had a great personality, awesome design, and is excellent in battle.
She’s a funny & strong-willed female character
Aika for all her face’s expressions.
She’s the childhood friend we all wish we had. Fun, energetic, adventurous, and always has your back, no matter what.
It’s so hard to choose… but I think I must go with Aika. With her cheerful and fiery spirit, wild imagination, and a desire for treasure to rival Daccat himself, she really makes for quite the pirate!
I then learned that I like feisty and selfconfident women like her 😀
Independent and bright. A great female role model.
I’m drawn to the loud, strong willed types.
She is very funny and is the glue that holds the friendships together. If I were to travel the world with someone, it would be with Aika.
My favorite types of characters are spunky girls. Also her flag design is neat.
She has a fun personality and a cool looking boomerang
A high spirited character who ends up as more than just the best friend archetype.
She’s irrepressible and brave.
There are so many to choose from. If I had to pick one it would be Aika, her spunky but sometimes voice of reason personality paired perfectly with Vyse. It’s hard to imagine one without the other.
She is kind, Strong, and extremely loyal
Cannot decide whether I love her more, or Vise
Because of her cheerful personality and her absurd stories
She’s the comic relief.
She’s the game’s co-star and her personality matches well with Vyse to make the playable party lively and fun.
Very down to earth/human and has a lot of charm and spirit
Makes the adventure livelier.
She’s a lot of fun and very reliable as Vyse’s right hand. She has some of the funniest moments in the game too, like when she pushes Enrique off the ship when the crew is trying to take back the Delphinus at Yafutoma.
A cute, yet confident girl that would that never let down Vyse. Her design is also great.
Getting to play as her was great!

Tough but caring.
Who doesn’t love a crusty old sailor with a heart of gold?
Because his character arc is emotionally touching.
Tough old man with a sad backstory, and he doesn’t stick around.
He has a great design and back story
A cool old dude with a mechanical arm, tough personality, and a great personal story, even though it is heavily derivative of Moby Dick.
His arc of loss and acceptance was great, but i guess it comes down to the old comforting trope of unwilling surrogate father that he plays into for Vyse and gang.
Drachma’s character arc was incredibly satisfying and memorable
Sympathetic looking guy
He was a change from the standard teen optimistic JRPG trope
Having a grizzled old man as a semi-mentor, semi-cynic fisherman in the party with that very awesome and tragic backstory, along with his character growth on realization of what his life has become, is all 1000% awesome! I only regret that he was not more involved in the latter half of the game (but when he DID return at the end, it was PERFECT), and that epilogue ending for him is too sad as it could’ve happened two decades later but is still a peaceful and well-earned fate for him… just too soon (shortly after being anytime) before he could really have a shot at his new aims in life.
Cause it goes with drama. Emotionnal brute.
His backstory is so sad, and he’s consumed with revenge, but he’s a good guy.
His story was good and engaging. It made you really connect with him and I was so excited when it was revealed that he lived
Loved his story.
His story makes me cry… (lol) there is life and hope even if u feel you have lost everything.
I like his character ark from revenge seeking zo understanding.
His stubbornness and determination make him interesting

Her soft demeanor and healing power in battle
The cupil thing was awesome.
She is very kind, and a character that I would like to behave like in my own life.
She’s kind, intelligent and cute
Shy but assertive.
She rounds out the party. Where Vyse and Aika are ‘hot’ characters, Fina balances them out by being ‘cooler’. It levels the party out.

He has a really cool design and I’m always a fan of his character type. I love that he plays a mentor role for some of the game but eventually sees Vyse as an equal and even his superior in a way.
Gunslingers are awesome!
I love how he’s older (but not old) and is this fun mix of a skilled, capable, trustworthy fighter, but also a charming womanizer.
Cool looking, has awesome guns, and is just generally a lot of fun.
He is classy and trustworthy
Reminds me of Albator, and is always positive when the group meet him.
He was the perfect mix of cheesy and cool. “C’mon, dance for me!”
Bad ass with guns
He has a lot of style.

King Enrique, the man who humanized Valua and had many admirable qualities that made him a great addition to the main cast. That and if it weren’t for him we would never have got one of the greatest ships of all time, The Delphinus!
I love his courage to abandon is royal life for the principles he defends.
Enrique with his heart of gold always stood out to me because even though he was young, he realized Valua was not perfect empire everyone was supposed to grow up believing it was and he did something about it. He straight up betrayed the crown he was to inherit to try to create a better tomorrow. That’s pretty badass.
I feel like he’s a fun contrast to the largely rough and rowdy cast of the game.
He is cute when he get airsick

I love his past with Doc, and how dynamic and complex his personality is. He has very human flaws and motivations, and the emotional vulnerability underneath his stoic exterior made him very sympathetic to me.
He was very cool and i really liked his story and how he turned out the way he is, plus his animations and speech on the final battle are the best
Gosh these are hard. I think Ramirez. His tragic story was portrayed so well, and in the end you’re not giving to take out the main villain, you fight because you have to because of how misguided and twisted Galician made him, which makes the ending all the better.
Such a great villain whose motives were very well explained.

While Vyse is who helped me model my behavior, Piastol is probably my favorite character. I love her arc and always enjoy seeing her slowly come out of her shell and set aside her misconceptions about the world. Piastol’s reunion with Maria always puts the biggest smile on my face.
Hard to choose among a lot of great characters. Has a cool design and she’s strong on the outside but has soft side to her as well.

Funny, unique, and beautiful feminine pirate dressing in formal Victorian clothes with an all-lady crew… again, something completely new to me. I wish that she was a party member for some point in time, possibly when Aika and Fina met her, ALA Gilder to Vyse. That or seeing more of Clara, especially how she fought in battle whenever not chasing Gilder, would make my day. Apparently some untranslated Japanese magazine promoting Arcadia back in the 2000s on one of the scans on Aresarcadia’s twitter page has a story that Clara was rescued from a Black Pirate by Gilder when she was a teenager, thus cementing her steps as a pirate (and infamous crush on Gilder)… I would very much appreciate seeing that story being an actuality (confirmed and/or happening) in branching material or a flashback. Maybe a ‘Story of Clara’ style novel that would expand on the characters, similarly to how One Piece has done that for Heroines and Ace..

■旗振りのベン公 / Ben the Lookout
I think he’s a nice guy, who falls from the top island when Galcian attacks 😦
■ガルシアン / Galcian
A great antagonist.
■フードン / Grapor
■バイス / Vize
I have a soft spot for certain types of sleezy and selfish characters.
■エスペランザの≪若い女≫ / ≪Young Woman (In Esperanza)≫
The girl in Esperanza with the striped orange shorts who says, “I wish my parents could see the woman I became!”

When they meet Fina
First discovery, was the Pirates Grave. the small ways the game gave lore details was great.
The first time you encounter the arcwhale
When Vyse and Aika get shipwrecked and get rescued by Drachma
The scene where Galcian chases you across the trains. That scene did a good job of establishing him as a much more powerful threat to the party.
When they barely escape Valua through the wall, very dramatic!
Breaking into Valua to save your family. The atmosphere is depressing, yet energizing at the same time. It’s such a charged moment.
Barely escaping the Valuan Empire’s home base as the main gate was closing on them.
When you escape the grand fortress. It’s just an epic moment thinking that you might not make it out but then you just make it past the gates and escape.
Either of the escapes from Valua. Their both something of a dedicated jailbreak mission, with the first being a strong loyalty and resolve to help family with the aid of new allies and escaping while making a name of themselves in the process for breaking out of a narrow skin of the teeth event; the second is a self-breakout with help from friends and prior reputation seeing to the Valuan Prince himself being swayed to helping Vyse’s cause as the only means to do some measure of good outside of the system said prince tried in all his power to change or affect for naught.
The fight against the first Gigas at the pyramid. It made you feel really powerless against this titan, and it felt awesome to figure out how to bring it down.
Chasing the ghost. It really stood out/set itself apart.
Watching Grendel rising from the top of Rixis ruins, feels big
The scene where Vyse gets separated from Drachma, Aika and Fina. It’s really emotional and makes me tear up every time.
When Drachma sacrifices himself to save the party. The game had been generally lighthearted until that point, and I did not expect such a heavy blow so early on (or the twists that come later on).
Again there are so many wonderfull scenes it’s impossible to choose just one. But I would have to say the scene mid game when captain Drachma refuses to get in the life boat and pushes Vyse out into the sky, going down with the Little Jack. It was such an emotional scene that has stuck with me all these years.
When the party gets separated/Vyse strands on Crescent Moon and they are all looking up at the same moon
the scenario where Vyse is separated from the rest of the team in a disserted island and how he managed to survive in a day to day trials. then when they regroup again in a dungeon while solving puzzles without any of them being aware of that. this whole scenario was something special. the pace and everything about it felt different like many other parts of the game really but this what sticks with me the most.
When the trio is separated and they have to survive by themselves (Vyse in the island and the girls in Nasr). I think it was original
I loves the part of the game when Vyse is stranded on crescent island. I just remember this part of the game being incredibly memorable.
When Vyse finds himself stranded on an island. It’s a nice change of pace to what you’ve been doing. I also enjoy the sense of isolation and uncertainty when you’re forced do stuff in an unfamiliar location without the characters who have been there with you the whole time until now.
Vyse surviving on his own on an island
I love the entire team split up in Nasrad when they keep almost crossing paths for the comedy and then the subsequent Daccat’s Island dungeon. It was a neat little puzzle sequence with the two groups affecting one another without knowing it.
The near misses of Vyse reuniting with Aika and Fina
When Vyse regroups with Aika and Fina after being alone on the island
The pirate’s treasure in Dakkat Island.
I really like the scene when Vyse is in Prison with Glider and starts doubting their ability to escape. Mainly because it shows just how quickly how he can bounce back from his negative thinking.
It’s so many. Maybe the second time you escape Valua, because it was the first time using the moonstone cannon
Getting the Delphinus
Recruiting Enrique and stealing the Delphinus. Not only do you get a new party member, but you steal the most powerful ship in the world, and blast a hole in the previously impenetrable prison gate with your new Moon Stone Cannon. ”Moon Stone Cannon! FIRE!”
Right when the crew gets the delphinus, hypest moment.
The theft of the Delphinus was one of the most memorable scenes ever because I just could not believe the game would hand over the best ship that early!
Stealing the Delphinus! So epic!
When Enrique offers the Delphinus to Vyse, it’s so cool to see Vyse realise his dream to become captain of a ship.
Getting your island and Delphinus after losing the Little Jack
It is a scene in Esperanza, when Vyse tells Don that if you can’t reach one of your dreams, you should strive towards reaching a new one. I always think about that scene whenever I feel like I can’t achieve my goals. I don’t know… this teenager has guts to talk to an adult like this, and yet he is right everytime I hear him talk to me like that, lol. It does make me feel better about my future.
Discovering Crescent Island
The one I most remember is when the group finds Drachma again..
When you find out Drachma isn’t dead and see Plergoth’s death. From joy to tears.
It’s difficult to choose only one. If I had to pick, I’d say the moment when you find Drachma with the purple Gigas, and you learn it’s true name is Plergoth, not Rhaknam.
Again same as above, the Drachma/Glacia/Rhaknam stuff
Rhaknam’s death was very powerful after learning about him earlier in the game
Raknam death scene hit me hard, first time I saw a “villan” as just an innocent victim
The sad scene of the whale death in the Glacia realm with his main enemy helping him in his final moments
Rhaknam’s death in the purple ancient civilization temple. You spend most part of the game hating it for destroying Drachma’s spirit but you can’t help but feeling bad after hearing the whole story. A heartbreaking moment.
It’s not just one scene, but all of the ones dealing with Drachma’s past and Rhaknam.
Drachma moving on from the passing of his son, releasing Jack’s feathers to the skies.
My favorite scene has to be Drachma letting his son’s collection of feathers go, because it symbolizes his letting go of his regrets.
Drachma releasing Jack’s feathers after the passing of Rhaknam. Although no words are spoken, it’s a very moving action that showcases Drachma’s closure in a beautiful and somber way.
The one that sticks out the most to me is when Drachma lets go of his hatred of Rhaknam, and lets Jack go by letting his feathers go.
The part were you dive down the clouds with the delphinus to get Fina’s ship back. I think everyone was always wondering what is below the sky .
When you fly into the Vortex with your ship.
When Ramirez attacks Vyse island base and steal the moon crystals of them. It was my favorite scene because i liked how Ramirez explains his reasons for doing what he is doing and because it was a very dramatic and impacting cutscene when i first played it.
Everything surrounding the fall of Valua. Galcian’s treachery, Enrique’s courage prior to it and with it his fated survival with Bellena’s aid. The sheer evil involved with the Rains of Destruction still remains the most powerful scene in gaming history for me and I still get shivers watching it even after all these years.
I’m a big fan of the scene right before the final war where all of the captains and allies that you have met throughout the game show up at the base to pledge allegiance to Vyse to help win the battle. It really feels like a great payoff for all the people you have saved and reminds you of how big this adventure has been and how many different places you’ve visited.
The ships of all your allies gathering near the endgame
All of the important side characters showing up with their ships to join Vyse near the end; fantastic display of solidarity and shows that Vyse & his allies have really inspired the people they’ve met along the way.
Vyse and Aika on the balcony before the final battle. After 50 hours of camaraderie that one little kiss is the most romantic thing in the world.
The scene when Vyse talks to Aika when they have difficulty sleeping and they end the conversation with Aika kissing Vyse on the cheek.
Aika, with Vyse on Crescent Island
Vyse’s two scenes with Aika and Fina before battling Galcian. They are sweet scenes between friends really starting to understand how much each means to the other. Vyse hugging Fina, Aika kissing Vyse. They feel like a trio that can share everything and trust each other undonditionally.
The attack on The Hydra with all of the ships in the game.
So many… but I’ll have to pick the whole buildup to the battle with Galcian, where all the pirates join forces, and especially the beautiful ending shot of all the ships sailing off into the sunset after the battle.
The silver shrine crashing down from the heavens. So powerful, the sacrifice and the visuals and music are incredible.
Revisiting Shrine Island at the end of the game. It’s incredible how it is the first and last place you visit on your adventure. And when you go there at the end, all of those events that you’ve experienced since the beginning come back to mind.
The death of ramirez after the final battle and then vyse throw his silver stone in the cloudocean after he asked fina if that ok.
Fina dressed as a pirate at the end of the game
The very last scene of the game, showing Vyse, Aika, and Fina continuing to explore together. It gives a feeling of hope and new possibilities for the future.
I love when Doc first opens up about his past with Ramirez. I didn’t expect them to have a connection and gasped aloud the first time I saw this scene. I loved seeing Ramirez as the kind boy Fina remembered, and it added so much depth to his character.
There are so many scenes I love that it’s hard to pick just one. For brevity’s sake, I’ll go with Piastol finally reuniting with Maria. It’s a careful, guarded scene at first as Piastol arrives on Doc’s ship and gently probes Maria for information about her life there. Piastol is afraid to tell Maria that the two of them are sisters; she is afraid of the distance between them, and afraid of what her sister might think of her as the former Angel of Death. But seeing Piastol gradually open up and eventually shed tears always gets to me, even if she cannot find it in her to confess the truth right there and there. Whether she knows it or not, Maria has a sister.
When Piastol talks to her sister Maria for the first time in years and begins to cry when Maria says that Doc told her she has a big sister, not realizing she’s right in front of her.
Favourite events were the ship battles, and using the harpoon/Moonstone cannon. So satisfying.
Fighting all the Gigas… discovering all the islands… too many to pick. I guess the intro to Valua because of how well it was developed. The whole area was simply poetry in a grim and opulent sense. I really liked that it showed the different class struggles.
14. 一番好きな船は？ 14. What’s your favorite ship?
№1🥇 デルフィナス / Delphinus 50pt
I can interact with my crewmates.
Mainly for the Moon Cannon shooting animation. It’s really satisfying engulfing other ships in that laserbeam.
It’s a powerful ship that stays with you for most of the game, it’s hard not to think of it like your partner.
Delphinus is one of my favorite vehicles in any series ever (would LOVE a physical model of it)
The Delphinus has a lot of customization and firepower.
№2🥈 リトルジャック / Little Jack 17pt
As cool as the Delphinus is, the Little Jack is very homey and its unique design is just excellent.
The Harpoon animation is great.

I love the classic tall ship look of The Albatross.
The Title theme, especially when paired with the Credits theme. It changed the way I listen to and think about music. I even transcribed and arranged a version that combines them both for the orchestra at the school I work at!
I makes me want to cry every time; so beautiful!

My all-time favorite game! [Ed McGlone]
It’s a fantastic game with a flawless sense of adventure, exploration, and progression, and a top-notch usage of music and style to create atmosphere. This game makes you feel like everything you do matters, even if it doesn’t. My favorite RPG of all time. [Alan]
A beautifully expansive game with a stunning cast and tons of sidequests! Please make a sequel with current technology 🙂 [Skystroll]
Skies of Arcadia is my favorite game of all time and one of the most inspirational games ever. Never give up on your dreams, and don’t let people tell you something is impossible. [Arctiq]
Skies of Arcadia set the standard of what I think about what open world games should be. It was the first game that I truly felt connected to the characters, they became more then just game characters, they became my friends. [Jae Covington]
This game means so much to me. I love this game so much when I hear the music I am reduced to tears. [Zachary Morris]
Skies of Arcadia is a wonderful game with the perfect balance of adventure, battle, and intrigue that really helped shape me into who I am today. Every character, good or bad, is written so well that you can’t help but get passionate in one way or another about them, and the main crew are very relatable. The main plot pushes you to challenge what you know without realizing it and change your way of viewing the world in a good way. The lands are very diverse and unique – no two places are the same. The have evokes a sense of wonder like no other with it’s young cast and the discoveries they find as they explore the world, each with it’s own bit of lore to further develop Arcadia. Tied together with an amazing soundtrack, it’s a game that stands out amongst the rest, even 20 years later. [Annakratos]
Can’t really express my feelings about this game into words, so I’ll keep that brief. I love this game to the point of calling it the best game ever made, and I so want to support any work about it even with my low budget. If there is any chance for a remake or port, I would buy it immediately. I so want it’s community to grow, and more people to enjoy this great game. [Amahterasu]
While the turn based battle system is the only thing to have aged slightly (the SP gauge and the ship battle system are still unique to this day), this game remains my absolute favourite of all time. It deserves more love and I believe it still has a place in modern gaming, if given the chance. [PageCartoons]
Skies of Arcadia is a game I’ve thought about every year since I first played it. The sense of adventure, discovery, and the cast of characters all make it so memorable. I only wish it was easier to get newcomers to play it, as it’s not available on any modern hardware and old copies are difficult to find and expensive. I still hope to see a sequel some day, especially one that explores how much the world has changed since Vyse’s adventure concluded. There’s a whole new continent now, the world below, two sides of the globe no longer being separated by the dark rift, and the dark moonstone itself being its own mystery… Arcadia still has so much to offer and so much more to see. I’ll never stop hoping. [Jerome]
This is a phenomenal game bursting with charm and originality. [wheretheresawil]
Skies has touched me in a way few other games has. I would love to see more recognition of one of SEGA’s greatest works. [Bluto2U2]
It was the first game that I spent 80hours on as a kid. The amount of stuff to do in it was what helped flesh out the world. Having the discoveries to find really made you feel like an adventurer exploring new lands. And of course flying ships are just awesome. I enjoyed it so much, it left a mark on my heart. [Tets]
I do not think there is a game that made me live an adventure as wonderous as this one. This is one of the greats of the genre and it gets everything right. Its tone is always consistent, it never feels like I am playing two separate games. The setting is beautiful and one I sorely needed in my life, too. I really love it and I miss when games could encapsulate such a wide world of locations and characters. Nowdays it just feels like only beautiful people can be in JRPGs. Skies instead feels real. No matter how cartoonish and out-there it can be, its world makes sense, it’s beautifully crafted and detailed, and there are many kinds of people you will meet in its journey. I still remember when Robinson and Polly meet again in the Dark Rift… that made me realize this game is truly unique and it does not pull any punches in portraying something that no matter what, feels real. [Xelie]
I haven’t played the game recently, but it’s a game that’s definitely close to my heart. While maybe a little generic in its setting at times, it portrays the world and its people in the most colorful way possible. I’ve never played another RPG that has given such a great sense of adventure. The battle system also does a lot in terms of the presentation that I feel like is still fairly unique, like when all the characters run around and pretend to fight with each other to give a hectic vibe to the encounters. [Oculin]
One of my favourite JRPG’s of all time. [Michael H.]
Skies of Arcadia is a magical experience that I think perfectly captures the sense of true adventure. Discovering new places, meeting new people, and shaking up the status quo of the whole world all make this world feel very alive for a game of its time. I have a special connection to all of the characters and the world and that’s why it has remained my favorite game since I first played it nearly a decade ago at this point. Whatever comes of this, I just want it to be known that this game is very special to a lot of people and we’re so thankful that it exists. Thank you so much! [Zebra]
Skies of Arcadia is my favorite video game ever! Vyse feels like a real friend, and sailing the skies is like coming home. I have adored this game for 20 years and I don’t plan on stopping. [Carmen]
SoA does a great job of presenting a sense of adventure and exploration. It carries a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world, but isn’t afraid to treat serious moments with the weight that they deserve. The characters have a lot of heart, and they clearly care about each other. [dxman]
I would love to see an HD remaster as well as a sequel to this game, as it’s my absolute favorite rpg ever made. It’s criminally underratd, and needs all the love and attention it deserves. It’s so fun, with great music, great memorable characters, and an amazing story that literally takes you around the world of Arcadia. Please make a sequel and a remaster! Also, Vyse for Smash Bros Ultimate!! [Ryan]
The original was amazing, please make a new one or a remake. [Nick Fisher]
I want to take the opportunity to say that this game changed my life. Thank you to all who were involved in making this game. You serve as my inspiration as I create and inspire others through music, stories, and teaching. [Ashish M.]
This game was so fun, I really hope we can get a remaster or a modern version of the original idea. [never]

Skies of Arcadia to this day is still my favorite game of all time. My one hope is to see a new release of the original game on current hardware, so more people can finally experience a game that has been so special and near and dear to me. [Darius Murphy]
Skies of Arcadia is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, and would absolutely love to see a modern HD re-release/remaster or a sequel with the same amazing sense of adventure & character that makes the original so good. Make it happen SEGA! [Justin F.]

happy 20th Anniversary to my favorite RPG of all time. I Hope that SEGA preserves the legacy of this gem by making it available everywhere. many people should experience this masterpiece. [Fayez Al Amoudi]
The true adventure [Vyse]
The great adventure of my life, from a time where anything seemed possible. Unforgettable, irreplaceable, and every bit as powerful now as it was all those years ago. [healfriend]
The game had so much potential for a sequel with the dark moonstone and great characters already established. But I’d really love to even just have original available with some quality of life improvements like lowering encounter rate and increasing battle speed. [Michael]
I have bought every game that features Vyse. On PC, I have both Valkyria Chronicles, and Vyse is my go-to racer in Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. But the one game I do not have on my PC is the original Skies of Arcadia. A Skies of Arcadia Definitive Edition, with the gameplay additions from Legends, remastered music based on the Dreamcast version, and an accessibility check to make it so elements and ship battle threat aren’t just using colors to show would be very welcome. If Skies of Arcadia were to suddenly show up on Steam like other Sega classics have, I would buy it in an instant. [McNum]
Favorite RPG ever [Ted M]
I really hope that there can be a remaster or re-release one day. A lot of us are clambering for one! [Kevin]
I just remember this being a fun rpg at the time. Several friends and myself were in a bit of a race to see who could finish the story first. We would come to school each day basically talking about how far we were and weapons or moves we got or bosses we encountered!! It was a great game that I wish sega would come back to along with other older IP from that era!!! [Dubbmobile]
One of the best RPG’s I have ever played [Keith]
I never got the chance to play the original but would like for SEGA to port it over to modern consoles and PC [Sher]
Skies of Arcadia is a very special game and it makes me so glad to see that two decades later it still has so many dedicated fans! I hope its spirit continues to burn bright to fans both new and old in the years to come! [Noseguy]
My nickname everywhere is CrazyArcadia. Because back then, Crazy Taxi and Skies of Arcadia where my favorite games ever.. And I am also crazy for Arcade games so it just fits. [CrazyArcadia]
Harpoon Canon, fire! [Nuurtti]
I was too young to experience the DreamCast version but absolutely loved the GameCube version. I was slightly disappointed later on when I found out that the music of the GameCube version was essentially gimped in comparison to the DreamCast version but I still played it at least 3+ times. In this day and age of live service games and MTX out of the wazoo, this among other remakes and ports are a breath of fresh air. I can guarantee that if another Skies of Arcadia game was made, it’d do really well because people are still interested in big adventures with freedom and PIRATES! [Chris E James]
Skies of Arcadia was the game that started my love for big, grand adventure games. It’s what lead me to Xenoblade Chronicles later on. I’d love to return to the world of SoA, because there’s so much that could be done in a sequel. Be it a direct continuation, a time skip to, say, 20 years later, with an older Vyse, or something completely different. Really, traversing the sky with your airship as a blue pirate, that’s as good as going on an adventure gets! Pls let us go back to this world! [Agitatius]
The most beautiful and adventurous JRPG of all time. Please bring to modern systems. [Corleth the Fey]
I first played Skies of Arcadia in my teens, which were a troubled time, to say the least, it was very much a highlight of those times, it provided a fascinating world for me to escape into, with characters i adore, but most importantly, it felt very open, there was a lot to explore, a lot of hidden mysteries that let my imagination run wild. I feel it also balanced the upbeat and dark story beats very well, it wasnt jarring or tonal whiplash as some stories can be that try to walk that line, that helped really draw me into the world. God, i know its dreaming but, just imagining the idea of a remake, maybe ff7 style in terms of scope, imagine how much more fascinating things could be scattered around the skies, how much more there could be to them other than just finding them, imagine real time ship battles, perhaps with the ability to board other ships and fight through them, in real time. To be honest, i would be perfectly okay with just a rerelease or remaster, but i still love to dream of how much more it could be if remade today, its such a rich world built all into one game, some games take whole series to get that level of richness, but Arcadia just feels so filled with wonder. I’m rambling so ill stop now, but i really would love to see the game return, a rerelease should be easy, a remake/sequel would be divine. [KillySG10]
It’s one of the few games out of many that I’ve played that truly give you the feeling of going on an adventure. It’s amazing to discover the secrets and locales of the game, getting to know the different people and culture. The freedom it gives you while offering such different mechanics like the ship combat and the way that Fina and Cupil fight, the magic, the bounties as well. It’s just incredibly fun and very few games are able to give the same feeling of discovery like how Skies of Arcadia does. It’s just a really fun journey with great friends. [Bard]
One of my favorite RPG’s of all time and I want other people, especially the next generation, to experience this excellent game the same way I enjoyed it back then. I would love to revisit this game as an adult and get sucked back into the world of Arcadia!!!! [TreeofMana]
Skies of Arcadia is a fantastic rpg, and easily one of the best ones from the era is came out in. The game has a fun sense of adventure not really matched in other rpgs as none have managed to catch that same spirit of sailing the open seas (sky) looking for adventure. 20 years later people are still talking about which really shows how unique Skies of Arcadia was for an rpg, and even is still today. I would love to see Sega port it to pc and newer consoles as an HD release so more people could easily play the game. [Sam]
One of my absolute favorite RPGs of all time and has a sense of adventure few other games can match. I basically got a Dreamcast just for it at the time and even had I not grown to love the console’s other offerings, I would have been wholly satisfied. [Talbyn]
Please release it on Switch, PC or other consoles. Thank you ❤ [Wrexis]
Skies of Arcadia is the first JRPG I ever personally owned. While it is special to me in that sense, I cherish this game for its uniqueness and positivity. To this day, it is the only RPG I’ve played that truly gives me the feeling of being a pirate on a voyage to unknown lands. I definitely consider it to be one of the greatest games ever made. To see this game receive a remaster has been a long desire of mine. It would be really great to see this game rendered in the Canvas engine that was used for the Valkyria Chronicles titles. [Asheel Eturna]
I have played countless RPGs, and games of various genres ever since i started playing video games, and i say with absolute certainty that Skies of Arcadia is the best game i ever played, the most ambitious and creative, i loved everything about it. My dream for games is that this game have a remaster or port if remaster is hard for other peoples of newer generation to have the opportunity to play this amazing game. [Churroszx]
Probably my all time favorite RPG. Sublime. [John Tate]
Playing Skies of Arcadia for the first time on a friend’s Dreamcast caused me to buy a Dreamcast of my own. [Masterostrich]
Skies of Arcadia is the one of the greatest RPGS! [GunyenTony]
I would say do not be afraid with making gameplay adjustments/changes as long as it there’s still some turn-based DNA to it (without it being too traditional or too different like an action/real-time RPG). I would look towards Valkyria Chronicles/XCOM (or even FF7R) on how to carry over some of it’s modernising aspects to the traditional turn-based JRPG formula to the new game. More spontaneous interactivity. [Flagship]
I would honestly love to see more goods and merchandise for Skies of Arcadia. This game is pretty obscure compared to most other Dreamcast titles. [witapepsi]
This game is one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played, and would love to play it again on the PS4/PS5/Switch [Kevin A]
One of my favorite game memories! I would LOVE a remaster (preferably on the Nintendo Switch) [TanookiTom]
It was one the first giant jrpgs I ever played. Its storytelling, its characters, its music, I just loved how perfect the pieces came together in this giant world. I may say this is one of the games that marked me as a gamer and I would love for a remaster/remake/sequel or whatever Sega may bring so that people from this generation can see how a master piece is made. [Timoneiro]
Brilliant game. Positive and uplifting, makes you feel that a whole world of adventure is out there, waiting for you, in those serene, Sega-blue skies. [The Shambles]
It has been over a decade since I last played the game so my memory is a bit foggy. However I remember very much enjoying it and I would absolutely love the chance to revisit it again on modern consoles, whether that’s a port, remaster, or full sequel. [Nimbus]
Skies of Arcadia is a game that, despite being 20 years old now, is still utterly unique. Few games have explored a setting like the one found in Skies; even fewer have matched its swashbuckling tone and lighthearted optimism. Taken as a whole, there is nothing else like it, and believe me, I have been searching for something like it for a long time. I love the characters and the world of the game, and while I’m happy to continue replaying it whenever a wave of nostalgia runs through me, I cannot deny that I would be very happy to see another story in the same world, or with the same characters. I’m not picky about the specifics. Ultimately, all I want is a sense that the world of Arcadia is still turning for more than just the fans. [Molly]
to…. many…. battles! [Daveodeth]
It means everything to me. It taught me to be a better person. A brave person. I’ve met wonderful people because of it, and I hope that I will one day be as worthy a Blue Rogue as my heroes. [Heather Alexandra]
Despite some flaws, it is a great game with a very interesting world and a very well developped lore [Max]
It’s a fantastic game. The main trio is lovely and the story well developed. It’s my favourite Sega game [Midori]
I would love to play Skies of Arcadia Legends again on the Switch or other modern hardware, and to see the series revitalized in the same way Sakura Wars and Valkyria Chronicles recently were! [Ayro]
It was my first lenghty Rpg and i has so much fun for a long rpg game from start to finish. [Dars]
I don’t quite understand what is sought of me here, but I’ll elaborate on 17. A couple of years ago, I was blessed to purchase the novel Eternal Arcadia: Sky Pirate Vyse’s Calling, and was barely able to get a rough sense of direction a couple of years ago via Google Translate and a close two weeks of snapshotting and scanlating (barely, because of image scan issues missing kanji no matter what lighting I had), so I would very much appreciate an official translation AND continuation of the novel. From what little I could glean, there were some differences from the game (like Shrine Island being abandoned for centuries in the game vs being a place that little kids in Dyne’s crew could apparently frequently go visit with hosted support clearing the area of monsters ahead of time for said kids as a ‘rite of passage’ for some reason), and Galcian had some sort of gun he used to wound Vyse in a near-solo rescue run on the rooftops, with Fina bandaging his wound with part of her dress before the Little Jack got to them there with Aika onboard. A lot of good background and information that could likely gel with the game continuity, or be its own take ALA other anime-game-manga-novel series in Japan, can exist and be widespread… furthermore, with the digital era we’re in, if anything a PDF/ebook style republishing at the least would be amazing and easier (especially in light of COVID-19 planetwide) for accessibility and translation/reading (despite that, I’m still hopeful for an official translation). Beyond that effort, I really don’t know a lot of what happened but wish to see that official translation someday… and a continuation on this unique take; I enjoyed the novel more so than the manga, Fina taking more action and such. As for the porting of Arcadia, as long as it hits the PC and Xbox One, that would be a great month for me. And as to a sequel… hopefully elements from the original team are involved on any such project and the original characters/legacies are respected (don’t want a sequel trilogy Star Wars catastrophe going on here) while going for a fresh take (Black Moon whereabouts?). A spin off as a prequel or concurrent event to the original game for other cast would be awesome, like for Clara, Drachma, Gilder, Don, etc. Failing that, perhaps another collaborative or cameo role such as Vyse appearing in Sega All-Stars (which was the ONLY reason I got that game of course) would be interesting to see, on a WIDE scale of characters instead of just one. Thanks for this questionnaire, by the way – and happy 20th bday to Skies of Arcadia/Eternal Arcadia! [sgreturn]
It’s such a joyous experience playing this game. [ChibiBombThing]
Skies Of Arcadia is hands down my favorite RPG of all time and might even be my favorite video game of all time easily in the top 3 atleast. To this day I’ve not encountered another game like it that has so totaly captivated me in the way SOA has, invested in the story and characters from the first scene to the last. Even the credits when I first beat the game had me almost in tears. [GoblinHordeStudios]
It’s a sailor/pirate adventure which takes roots in a lot of great books (Robinson Crusoe, Moby Dick), and delivers a strong and positive message. [AngryCaveman]
Skies of Arcadia (Legends) is one of the best RPGs and video games I’ve ever played. Certainly a favorite. I still have the poster they gave out in Nintendo Power years ago. The game does so many things right and it deserves more attention than it’s gotten over the years. I can only pray to the Lord that someday we’ll see Sega remaster this game and make a sequel. [Collins]
Anything helps, make a PC version or remaster so that everyone on new systems can play. Its themes are timeless but it seems very relevant now. [GZA1999]
Skies of Arcadia is a masterpiece. It brings every element, from the world building, characters, vibrant art style, music, mechanics, all to the top levels for its time. It provides such a refreshing world, that encourages exploration and holds a sense of wonder and discovery. Most of all, Skies of Arcadia has soul. You can feel the passion of the creators who wanted to make something truly impactful. I will never forget this game. [VacantShade]
I’d love to relive the adventure. It has been a very loooong time since I’ve felt like a game has given me the same sense of…. being alive… something like Skies Of Arcadia challenged the way I view life. And it breathed life into my perspective of what real adventure is like. It made me feel like a child. And I still am that child playing it. [Zach]
